A New Man in my Life

Been inactive for a while because there's a new man who entered my life..... Baby G was delivered on 09.10.11. My water bag burst at 3am and it was unexpected although he was one day past EDD. Oh well, good lah, Dar is always fond of the date 09.10.11. Everything seem so surreal... Been a week and still trying to get used to his sleeping pattern and cries. Have been trying to increase my milk ss too.... having a slight fever now... not sure what is the cause, hopefully it will go away after more water.... Decided to post his pictures on fb - I don't have a habit to post pictures but decided to do so for Baby G as many are asking for his pics!

Not really been resting at home. Just taking care of him as well and tried to latch as many times as I can. Feeling a little low morale as my milk ss is low.. so have to supplement with FM.

Dinner at the Airport

It has been a long time since Dar and I went to the airport to eat. It used to be the place to hangout when we were getting to know each other. We will spend our evenings at the coffee club (in T2) and just chit chat. The coffee club now is replaced by Swensens and the airport has became more crowded than usual.

After we got married, we still frequent the airport, mostly for fish n co that has our favourite seafood platter for 2! and of course our favourite hot fudge cake with ice cream. But it has been a while since we
've been there. So it was a pleasant surprise when Dar suddenly called on Sat afternoon and suggested we go there for dinner since he needs to pass something to a business associate. We arrived at fish n co at 7pm. Luckily there wasn't a queue yet and we managed to get a seat and our food pretty fast. But kind of disappointing was that the portion of the seafood platter for 2 has shrunk and the fries were cold. But we were determined not to let this spoil our meal. Of course, the meal ended off with our favourite hot fudge cake! Walked around the airport and fulfilled my 20 min of walk per day.. ... haha! walking in the airport is nice, air-con and not so crowded!

Sunday - Was happy Dar decided to skip his weekly soccer to accompany me for a morning walk. We walked to the Bedok McDonalds for breakfast. It was cooling at first but just when we bought all our things and wanted to walk back, the sun came out mighty strong and we decided to take a bus back. As I do not have my EZ link card with me, i paid with cash and hehe... i am intrigued by the bus ticket! haha! Been a long long time since I last seen one. Still remembered, I used to collect bus tickets! and my friends and I love to fold the tickets into small little heart shapes!

Monday - Am determined to finish up the Italy photos and do some washing of baby bottles. Had a late breakfast and just cooked some simple lunch to eat at 3pm. :) Dr Heng said last Thursday that Bb may come out this week, depends. Will have to monitor then. After the washing, I should be more or less done and it will just be a waiting game!

Gareth! We look forward to welcoming you into this little world of ours!

2nd week of my leave

It's into the 2nd week of my leave and I am enjoying it! Gee! Never felt so relaxing before. Even though i felt sick last week, i was not a bit frustrated as I know I can rest at home! haha! So what have I done for my first week? First wash a pile of bb clothes, tidy up study table, combining 2 tables worth of stuff into one table so that the other table can be used for bb things. prob move the table to the other room later the week.

The construction of the lift is getting irritating. The workers are just below my room to cut, to saw and to dunno what stuff
. Why can't they choose a spot or site that is not so near the residents? Damn irritating. And their progress is so long, they have yet to install the lift shaft on my side.... hmm... hope they will do it before bb arrives. Now that I have moved bb to this study room with the constructions just downstairs, I am not sure if that is a wise choice, at least well, i guess i can always wheeled the cot outside to the living room. Bought more diapers and breast milk storage cups. Standby first i guess... no harm ... hahaha although i am really apprehensive about the nursing portion. And of course the birthing process. After the backache and cervix dilation checks experience, I am more or less convinced that I will take epidural! Gee, did not know my threshold for pain is so low or like Dr Heng said, ZERO! She is away on holiday now, hope bb can wait for her to return before popping.

Yesterday was my birthday. It was nice... for once, i am surprised at myself for
being able not to ask what Dar is planning. He kept saying it's secret so I also did not bug him. In the past, I will prob try to trick him into telling me where we are going etc. He gave me a very nice pair of earrings and bracelet. Great taste i must say! He knows my taste. haha! and treated me to sunday lunch at the Regent hotel - Basilico. Wow! I know it's sinful to eat froi graz, but the froi graz with risotto there is really good! Dar and I had one piece each! And i love their latte with chocolates. Had a full lunch. And Dar brought me to watch a baking demo at Phoon Huat. He promised to bring me and he did. :) It was nice but we figured it's not easy to bake! Wow.. prob need a BIG kitchen ne! Went to Parkway Giant to buy some groceries before heading home to wash another batch of bb clothes. Quite fun washing it with dar lah... hehe.... That's my day!

Start of my Long Leave

Finally stopped work! Clearing my leave before starting my maternity leave and then I shall take a break from work! Went for my usual check up on Thurs. All was well. Then Friday, on my last day of work, I experienced this very painful backache in the morning. Never so painful before and it lasted for about an hour. So i was worried and called the clinic but not before I waited for abt 30min before I can start to walk to a meeting room to call in private. Gee.. yes, it was so painful that I couldn't a short distance. Colleagues who are mothers told me that the backache is the first sign of labour and told me to better see the gynae. So off i went on the last day of my work to see the gynae in the pm.

Dr Heng had an emergency C-sect so all her patients ended seeing her 2.5hrs later. I was lucky - the nurse slotted me as the first one. Dr Heng checked for my cervix dilation and said I have not dilated yet so just sent me off with some panadol painkilllers and Bengay...
Backache still comes back on and off but in shorter durations, after 15-30mins. I tried not to take the painkillers and shall monitor and see how. The nursery is still not done up yet... with lots of bb clothes not washed and I need help to wash them..... so the room is just in a mess....

The last 2 weeks have not been easy. My feet were swollen and they really looked huge and ugly. I can't even fit into my one-size-bigger work shoes.... and my hair is always in a mess, dry hair, messy hair and it's so hot always... haha... guess that's all part and parcel of the last tri then? Was quite heartened that my boss treated me to a hair spa before I stopped work. It was at J-Salon at Goodwood park and boy! the treatment is expensive but it was relaxing!

Th
e baby cot hand me down from Von... (Thanks!!) Dar and I spent a long time figuring out how to assemble it. haha!

Blue cupboards from MIL - temporary storage for bb stuff.

Re
cently, SX & wife recommended someone to come to demo Rainbow vaccum cleaner. Originally, we intended to use the demo as a chance to clean our mattress and carpet. Dar was not ard during the demo as he has got work that Sat. Guess what? I ended up buying the vacuum cleaner! cos' i was simply amazed at how much dirt/dead skin/dust this cleaner can suck up and it is easy to maintain.. just throw away the water and change clean water. It is also an air purifier! and it can help to keep the air clean. Esp my flat is undergoing lift upgrading now... i think it will be good for bb even though the investment can sponsor one person to Europe all-in holiday!

Sep Celebration with Best Friends!

It has become an annual event! and it felt great to be doing this with 2 of my best friends! Our birthday celebration in September! All our birthdays are in September and since 2 years ago, we have started to have mass celebration. This year, we took leave together on 9 Sep and spent one day together, just relaxing and enjoying each other's company.

Really happy for them - one is getting married and the other expecting
another bb! Yeah! Our day started with McD breakfast - good old breakfast that never fails to brighten up our day! Then we went over to esta and nua by the pool oh well, should be nua in the pool. it was strange to see 3 women walking around the perimeter of the pool (it was empty and there were only 3 of us there!).

Thereafter, we showered and changed and took a bus down to Raffles City where Xiu made a reservation for high tea at the Equinox! Wonderful spread and it was especially enjoyable knowing that it was at 33% discount!
Thereafter, each have plans and so we sort of parted our ways at abt 6plus. Overall, it was indeed another memorable birthday! Feel really blessed to have them as my best friends.

Xiu's complimentary birthday cake with her Amex card.... hehe.. bitter choc cake!

August 2010

Finally settled most of my work deliverables। Now can concentrate on handing over to the new person. Looking back, seems like an extremely busy year... sometimes wonder why i worked so hard... since I won't be getting the PB in Apr next year... haha! Yeah! No more working weekends for me!

Dar and I went to Suntec a few weeks back and we came across this korean restaurant and I wanted to eat ginseng chicken so dar agreed to eat Korean food with me। Luckily the food was good!

Can't remember which evening after work, Dar said he would like to bring me to a nice place for dinner and it was meant to be a surprise... it turns out to be Hummerstons at Robertson Quay! Nice! cos' I have never been there and I thought it was such a nice gesture! I love their classic poutine! and my smoked duck quesadillas.
One of the Sunday evenings, we decided to make our favourite "house salad" and Salmon... the salmon was really a hit and miss cos it was the first time we tried baking it and we had limited ingredients so we just dumped whatever stuff we can find on the salmon and hoped that it would turn out tasty. Well, it was not too bad I thought! Although I think Dar's standard is higher! haha!

Our favourite salad overflowing with garlic croutons!

On one of the lazy Saturdays, where I have lazily chosen to skip my yoga class and Dar din have to start work so early, we went to eat Brunch at Coffee Club @siglap! It was nice...! Still looking forward to my brunch at the Hummerstons!

Just yesterday, my mum and sis came over to just have lunch and visit... it was a nice and relaxing Sat afternoon - just sitting there and watching TV till evening where we went to Tampines for our favourite Pu Tien food.... Think 3 of us never really spent our time watching tv together for the whole afternoon even back in my mum's place!!
Really don't know what to expect.... although friends have been giving me valuable advice and I have been reading but i guess once the load of work gets lighter, I now have more time to think of Baby G.... he is growing and I feel heavy.... hopefully the delivery and the nursing won't get too tough....
